Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Newsigma mobile application, the website newsigma.in, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”), operated by Newsigma Technologies Private Limited (“Newsigma”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Creator Reward Guidelines.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. If you are under 18, you may use the Platform only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Platform you represent that you meet these requirements and are competent to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
2. Your account
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential.
- One person may not maintain multiple accounts for the purpose of manipulating rewards, engagement, or moderation systems.
3. The service
Newsigma provides (a) a news portal offering stories in multiple reading layers, including summaries and analyses; (b) exam-preparation content generated from current affairs; (c) “Sigma”, a social feed where users create and share content linked to news stories; and (d) a performance-based creator reward programme. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn at our discretion.
News summaries are prepared with the assistance of automated systems and reviewed through editorial processes. While we strive for accuracy, the Platform is an aggregator and summariser of third-party reporting; we do not guarantee that content is error-free, and it should not be relied upon as professional, legal, financial, or academic advice.
4. Your content
- You retain ownership of the content you create and post on the Platform (“User Content”).
- By posting User Content, you grant Newsigma a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, display, and distribute that content on and in connection with the Platform, including for promotion of the Platform.
- You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to the content you post, and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights.
- We may remove, restrict, or label User Content that violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law, including the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
5. Prohibited conduct
You must not use the Platform to host, display, upload, publish, transmit, or share content that is prohibited under our Community Guidelines or Rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules, 2021, and you must not:
- manipulate engagement metrics through bots, purchased interactions, coordinated inauthentic behaviour, or multiple accounts;
- scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform without our written permission;
- reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the Platform or its security features;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity;
- use the Platform for unlawful advertising, spam, or pyramid or money-circulation schemes.
6. Creator rewards
Participation in the creator reward programme is governed by the Creator Reward Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. Rewards are discretionary programme benefits, not wages, and depend on genuine content performance as measured by the Platform.
7. Subscriptions and payments
Certain features may be offered on a paid or subscription basis. Prices, billing cycles, and inclusions will be shown at the point of purchase. Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Purchases made through app stores are also subject to the applicable store’s terms.
8. Intellectual property
The Platform, including its software, design, trademarks, logos, editorial compilations, and summaries, is owned by or licensed to Newsigma and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for the limited licence to use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes, no rights are granted to you.
9. Third-party content and links
Stories on the Platform summarise and link to third-party sources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or policies of third-party websites or services.
10. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Newsigma disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Newsigma and its directors, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform. Our aggregate liability for all claims in any twelve-month period shall not exceed the greater of INR 1,000 or the amounts you paid to us in that period.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Newsigma from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Platform, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or where required by a lawful order. You may delete your account at any time from the app settings. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 8, and 10–12) will survive.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at [City of registered office], India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Platform.
15. Grievances
Complaints about content or the Platform may be raised with our Grievance Officer as described in the Grievance Redressal Policy. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the app or by email, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
