About NewSigma
1. What is NewSigma?
NewSigma is a platform built around two experiences: News and Sigma.
News provides platform-generated news and current-affairs content, including General News and IAS News.
Sigma is the user-generated side of NewSigma, where people create and share image and video memes. Memes can stand alone or be associated with NewSigma News or an external link.
In simple terms:
News informs. Sigma creates the reaction.
2. What is the difference between News and Sigma?
News is created and published by NewSigma as news and current-affairs content.
Sigma is created by the NewSigma community and consists primarily of memes and other user-generated content.
This distinction is central to how NewSigma works.
3. What is Context?
Context allows a Sigma post to be associated with a relevant NewSigma News item, external web link or other relevant information.
It is intended to help people understand what a meme is referring to.
Context is not required for every meme, but when it is used, it should not deliberately mislead users or create a false impression.
4. What is Prior Publication?
Prior Publication is NewSigma's mechanism for addressing cases where a meme may have been publicly published somewhere else before it was submitted to NewSigma.
Users may provide evidence when reporting a Prior Publication claim. NewSigma may review relevant timestamps, source material and other available information.
A verified Prior Publication finding may affect eligibility for Weekly Sigma or other creator recognition and reward programmes.
Creating and Sharing on Sigma
5. Can I create and upload my own memes?
Yes. Sigma is designed for users to create and share image and video memes, subject to the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and applicable law.
6. Do I own the memes I create?
Generally, you retain ownership of original content that you create and post on NewSigma, subject to third-party rights and the licence granted to NewSigma.
When you upload content, you grant NewSigma the permissions reasonably necessary to host, display, distribute, operate, maintain, secure, improve and promote the Platform.
That licence does not transfer ownership of your content to NewSigma.
7. Can I use content created with AI?
NewSigma may permit or host content created or modified using generative AI or other computational tools.
However, AI tools cannot be used to create or share unlawful, deceptive, privacy-invasive, sexually exploitative, fraudulent or materially misleading content.
Where required by applicable law or the relevant technology, NewSigma may require disclosure or labelling of synthetic or AI-generated content.
8. What kind of content is not allowed on NewSigma?
NewSigma's Community Guidelines and Terms prohibit various forms of unlawful or harmful content and conduct, including content involving exploitation of minors, unlawful threats or incitement, fraud, malware, serious harassment, privacy violations, infringement of third-party rights, deceptive impersonation and artificial manipulation of Platform engagement.

Sigma Feed & Discovery
9. What feed filters does Sigma have?
For Version 1, Sigma provides five feed filters in this sequence:
• Latest - shows the most recently uploaded memes.
• Most Danks (Week) - shows the memes with the highest Danks from Friday 12:00 AM IST through the current time within the ongoing Friday-to-Thursday competition week.
• Planets View (Week) - shows a visual view of memes from Friday 12:00 AM IST through the current time within the ongoing competition week.
• Most Danks (All Time) - shows the memes with the highest Danks across the available history of NewSigma.
• Planets View (All Time) - shows a visual discovery view of memes across the available history of NewSigma.
10. What is Planets View?
Planets View is a visual way to explore Sigma instead of relying only on a conventional scrolling feed. In the Weekly Planets View, seven elliptical orbital paths represent Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each circle represents a meme, and circle size represents its Danks. Older daily uploads appear on inner orbits and later uploads on outer orbits. The first meme uploaded during the competition week is displayed at the centre, and the meme with the highest Danks at that point is highlighted in a Sun-like colour. Selecting a circle opens the associated meme.
The All-Time Planets View applies the visual discovery concept to the available historical meme set. Planets View is a discovery interface and does not guarantee equal views or impressions for every meme.
Weekly Sigma & Meme Creator
11. What is Weekly Sigma?
Weekly Sigma is NewSigma's recurring Meme Creator recognition programme.
Each competition week begins at 12:00:00 AM IST on Friday and ends at 11:59:59 PM IST on the following Thursday, inclusive.
At the end of the competition week, an eligible Meme Creator may be recognised as the Sigma of the Week.
12. How is Sigma of the Week determined?
NewSigma may consider eligible engagement and other programme-specific signals. Depending on the competition, these may include Danks, genuine engagement, shares, meaningful interactions and participation during the competition period.
Displayed rankings are not necessarily final rankings. NewSigma may validate results after the competition period and may correct outcomes where fraud, manipulation, technical errors or other ineligible activity is identified.
13. What does the Sigma of the Week receive?
The recognised Sigma of the Week may receive merchandise or another non-monetary reward announced for the applicable competition.
Weekly Sigma does not currently create a guaranteed monetary entitlement, and reward merchandise generally has no cash value unless expressly stated otherwise.
14. How is merchandise eligibility determined for Weekly Sigma?
For each completed competition week, NewSigma determines a merchandise eligibility threshold based on the size of the Sigma community during that competition week.
The threshold may vary from one competition week to another as the Sigma community grows or changes. The threshold applicable to a competition week is determined using NewSigma's platform-scale methodology.
For merchandise eligibility, the qualifying meme must receive at least the applicable number of eligible Danks during that competition week. Only eligible Danks are counted. NewSigma may exclude engagement that is fraudulent, manipulated, purchased, bot-generated, duplicated, technically invalid or otherwise ineligible under the Meme Creator & Reward Guidelines.
Recognition as Sigma of the Week and merchandise eligibility are separate. An eligible creator may be recognised as the Sigma of the Week even when the merchandise eligibility threshold is not reached. The merchandise reward is not unlocked unless the applicable threshold and all other programme requirements are satisfied.
15. Can I manipulate likes, views or other engagement to improve my chances?
No.
NewSigma may exclude fraudulent, purchased, bot-generated, duplicated or otherwise manipulated engagement.
The Reward Guidelines also prohibit practices such as fake or multiple accounts, purchased Danks/views/likes/comments/shares, self-voting through alternate accounts, engagement-exchange schemes and coordinated manipulation.
Accounts & Privacy
16. Do I have to be 18 to use NewSigma?
NewSigma does not impose a blanket 18+ requirement in its current Terms.
Use of NewSigma is subject to applicable law and any age, consent, authorization or other requirements that apply to the user or to a particular feature, programme or transaction. Certain features may therefore have additional eligibility requirements.
17. What happens if I deactivate my account?
When you deactivate your account, it becomes inactive and your displayed identity may be anonymized.
You then have a 30-day reactivation period during which you may log in and reactivate the account.
If you do not reactivate it within that period, the account is permanently deleted.
18. Will my memes disappear when I delete my account?
Not necessarily.
Public contributions such as memes and comments may remain available after permanent account deletion, unless they are subsequently removed under NewSigma's policies, applicable law or another valid reason.
Your displayed identity associated with historical public contributions may be changed to an anonymous/deleted identifier.
19. How does NewSigma use my personal data?
NewSigma may collect and process information needed to operate and secure the Platform, provide News and Sigma features, personalise content, provide recommendations, moderate content, prevent fraud and abuse, administer Weekly Sigma and rewards, provide support, process payments and comply with legal obligations.
